Every timepiece Rolex creates appears to become an instant classic. The GMT Master, which was introduced in 1954, is an outstanding example. Its unique design let the wearer to maintain time like never before, thanks to a 24-hour rotating bezel created by Rolex to assist commercial pilots throughout the world in synchronizing to military time. Rolex improved its popular pilot’s watch, the GMT Master II, in 1983, after decades of development. The calibre 3085 automatic movement in this recent addition to the GMT series was designed to have an independent 24-hour hand as well as the ability to read a third time zone on the dial. A stunning two-tone finish is used on the case and Oyster bracelet, which is made of 904L stainless steel and 18 carat yellow gold. The extremely sought 5mm Easylink extension link is offered with a machined Oysterlock clasp. This useful feature allows the wearer to adjust the bracelet up to 5mm without using tools for a perfect fit all day. The Cerachrom bezel is also featured on the men’s Rolex ref. 116713, which was the first Rolex watch to include this widely awaited bezel variant. The Cerachrom bezel is composed of Rolex’s own ceramic and is virtually completely scratch-resistant. The Cerachrom bezel, like the sapphire crystal that frequently comes with the case, requires a large amount of power to damage.
